New Book

I love books. I haven't read a "self-help" one in quite awhile. Months ago a dear friend got me a book called "What the Bible says about Parenting" by John MacArthur. I decided to pick it up today and peruse it. Now mind you I am not even through the first chapter and am appalled at what our society is doing with the sanctity of family, and just ripping it apart and what the church isn't doing to stop it, or at the very least change.

One thing that in the first 8 pages, has stuck out to me...what are we leaving behind for our children? Are we leaving them with solid Biblical training? Am I showing them CHRIST? Am I communicating to them that HE is priority 1? Are we, am I more focused on behavior rather than the heart? So often I just want them to behave, and I am either too tired or just plain ol' wore out, to try and figure out what is going on in their heart. GOD calls me to a higher way of parenting. He has blessed me with children and I often forget that my children are a sign of HIS grace on my life. In the garden Eve was disciplined with more pain in labor...not death in labor, just awesome pain. GOD could have just wiped her out and started over...but HE had grace...my children are a gift from the LORD above! I will have to let you know how the book goes...so far I am intrigued and excited. I so want to get back to solid biblical child training. Give me your strength LORD!!
